It can be a thrilling and memorable experience at Ascot particularly if you are lucky enough to go on Ladies Day, here are my top 5 tips to ensure you have a fabulous day.

Top Tips for Ascot

1: Dress Appropriately: Ascot has a strict dress code, Ladies are required to dress formally, with a modest hemline and a hat, headband or fascinator. If you are in the Royal Enclosure there are certain hat sizes you must also stick to.

2: Very high heels might be uncomfortable for a full day of walking and standing especially if it's a hot day, one of the best tips I ever received was to take a pair of slim flip-flops or those fold up shoes in your handbag to slip on. If you are travelling by train it is also quite a long walk from the station.

3: Stay Hydrated and Nourished: Ascot Ladies Day can be a long day, so it's crucial to drink plenty of water throughout the day, plus the obligatory Pimm’s or two. There are a wide range of food and drink options from exciting street food to elegant walk-up restaurants and a multitude of bars and Champagne lounges.

4: When I went last year it was one of the hottest days of the year, bear this in mind and be Sun Smart, protect yourself from the sun and wear sunscreen, there are only a few places to get out of the sun.

5: Arrive early, it allows you to secure a good spot, explore the venue and plan your day before it gets too crowded. If you would like to be featured in the press the journalists are there early, so whilst you are looking your most fabulous it’s the best time to be captured.

Have fun and enjoy the atmosphere, Ascot Ladies Day is known for its vibrancy, beautiful coloured hats and glorious outfits. Take the time to soak in the ambiance, enjoy the races and make lasting memories.
