So, you want something different from the usual hat or headpiece
If you want to work with me, and I want to work with you (I might say no) we need to understand each other. I don’t do feathers, fluffy bits, copying, or use sinamay (usual Hat making material). I don’t do mass-produced or use mass-produced bases.
If you want a few feathers hot glued to a headband then look on Etsy there are hundreds to choose from, all very similar.
Now I am a very positive person and prefer do’s rather than don’ts, so I do absolutely love what I do, I take great pride in creating something so special, so you, an extension of pure youness extended to your head and beyond.
I find it exciting to hunt down fabrics and old clothing, the history behind them, and what sights, and parties they might have seen. Especially if it is one of my heirloom pieces where you supply the fabric, they often have a story to tell and a sentiment behind them.
Absolutely everything is handmade including the headband, nearly all fabrics are upcycled, from deadstock, off cuts or vintage. Should I have to purchase new, which I do to create the bases (currently testing upcycled alternatives), I look at natural, eco-friendly or sustainable fabrics.
My passions for Art and Design have led me over the years to use many different materials, design skills and applications. I create detailed sketches for my headpiece designs and then work backwards using my engineering mind to work out how to put it all together. If I am creating a new collection I often start with the fabric and see how it feels and what vibes I get.
Should you wish to work with me, I need to know more about you, your likes, your personality, your face shape (I need to see you), I take great pleasure in our 1-2-1s the more I know about you I can create something that fits with your vision and values.
